Comfy Family Retreat
This intimate family area with its bold use of salmon on the accent also artfully brings five different shades together in this space.

A rich handmade silk rug placed over the wool Berber carpet anchors the room and defines space. Atop the comfy casual modern furniture upholstered in rust/salmon/peach and brown, colors pulled from the antique brick fireplace contrast to the hard visual brought by the antique brass finished metal and glass accent tables and lamps. All this creates a relaxing retreat (always a favorite at parties) that immerses one into the bold colors and imagery of the art by Eyvind Earle, a favorite of this client. On left edge of the photograph, the marble top of a custom made cabinet can be seen.

The lighting system was extremely art specific utilizing museum quality bulbs for color rendition and protecting the art from UV waves. each recessed fixture was tied to its own dimmer (hidden from site) so that each light could be adjusted with a light meter to assure even lighting for each individual work of art, then the light was controlled by a lighting control system that was programmed with pre set “scenes” and the buttons appropriately labeled, examples include: dinner party, party, conversation, TV, quiet, etc. and were specifically designed for how the client lived in each and every room. This system could be controlled by the wall switches, remote controls both wireless and wired table top units as well as from a touch screen television remotes.
